Tracking Talent with Technology

The identification of talented individuals has always been a high priority for successful organizations, but as workforces become more global and workers become more mobile, finding, tracking and keeping the best is bound to become even more difficult. Technology solutions are likely to play an increasing role in helping organizations manage global talent.

Burgeoning Challenges

When BNA corralled a group of senior HR experts to discuss the challenges HR professionals would face in 2006, increased competition for the best talent topped the list of hot issues. Representing such organizations as Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc., Mercer Human Resource Consulting, Sibson Consulting and others, these experts thought it likely that talent competition would heat up as the economy improves and more jobs are created (Callahan, 2006). And as work- forces become more globally dispersed, HR will have an opportunity to demonstrate its value in managing the complexities associated with them. For this reason, familiarity with workforce technology solutions will become increasingly important.
